Clothing

Weather appropriate clothing is mandatory as we will be outside for the entire class. There will be limited extras available on a first come first served basis. Please write your child’s initials or name on the clothing they wear/bring.

Suggestions based on the weather:

Warm weather - Breathable or moisture wicking fabrics (not cotton), shorts, t-shirts, a hat, closed toe shoes.

Rainy weather - Raincoat, rain pants, rain boots. Water proof gloves for colder, rainy days to keep fingers dry and warm.

Cold weather - Layers of warm, breathable fabrics against the skin, an insulated layer, and a wind proof layer on top, water proof mittens, a hat, closed toe shoes.

Snowy weather - Heavier, water proof coat, shoes, and pants. Mittens are suggested since they keep hands warmer than gloves.

Check out the below link for more information on how to dress for the weather. (This is not an endorsement or recommendation of REI.)

Tick Prevention

To help prevent ticks, the CDC recommends treating clothing with permethrin that will last a couple of washes. Additionally, topical sprays and lotions are safe to use on children over the age of three. Please use what works best for you. There is more information on how to prevent and check for ticks at the link below.

We will do our best to prevent exposure to ticks by avoiding the areas they are most likely to be in. We will also perform tick checks and use lint rollers at the end of class to catch any on clothing.
